Number memory test
A number flashes up for a moment. When it goes, type it back. It starts at 3 digits and grows by one every time you get it right; two misses and the game ends. Your score is the longest number you got right. Everyone gets the same numbers each day, so you can compare scores.
Questions
What is a good score?
Most adults can hold about 7 digits, give or take two. 9 or more is a long span.
How do people remember long numbers?
By chunking: reading 4 8 2 9 1 7 as "48, 29, 17" or as a phone number. Three chunks are far easier to hold than six digits. Saying them to yourself in a rhythm helps too.
Is it the same for everyone?
Yes. Your first game each day uses the day’s numbers, the same for everyone, and that is the score you share. Games after that are practice with new numbers and don’t change it.
